It’s hard to believe that I now have a 6th grader! M is very excited and proud to be considered a middle schooler. Me? I’m still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I have a 6th grader already! Here are our Homeschool Curriculum Choices for 6th Grade.
Math: Teaching Textbooks 6 – We started using this math program last year and love it. It is great because it makes my teaching load lighter. She can do her math independently and she enjoys that.
Spelling: All About Spelling 2 and then move on to Level 3 – M and J are doing this together. M needed a little more help with her spelling so I went ahead and started at the beginning of All About Spelling with her last year. The words are super easy for her to spell but it’s the spelling concepts and rules that I want her to have a better understanding of.
English: Elementary Bible and English Grammar by MasterBooks – She and I are both very excited about this curriculum. She will read through “Illustrated Family Bible Stories”. Every week there is a worksheet she will complete. The worksheets include grammar, vocabulary and has writing assignments.
Writing: Jump In: A Workbook for Reluctant and Eager Writers
Reading: Various chapter books – I let her choose books that interest her and she reads during our afternoon quiet time.
Along with all this she will also be doing the Bible, history, and science curriculum I shared in this post. She will work more in depth on those subjects than the rest of the kids.
