Thanksgiving is tomorrow! During my morning quiet times, I have been reading about thankfulness and joy. The two go hand-in-hand. Think about it: when you are grumbling and complaining joy is lacking. But if you CHOOSE instead to be thankful and think of the good things the Lord has done the result is joy. As a mom, it can be easy for our minds to focus on the things are that not going the way we planned in our day. Spilled milk, whiny attitudes, bills to pay, errands to run in the cold, and a fussy baby can all steal our thankfulness and our joy. I love the words of Ann Voskamp:
“While I may not always feel joy, God asks me to give thanks in all things, because He knows that the feeling of joy begins in the action of thanksgiving.”
Today choose the action of thanksgiving and the feeling of joy will follow. Focus on the people and things you are thankful for. Enjoy this Thanksgiving holiday with your family. Get into the Word and read about thankfulness and joy. To help you with that, here is a list of Scriptures I compiled on thankfulness and joy!
